Diane E. Walker – Board of Director
Diane E. Walker, a 33-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Leroy D. Baca on September 30, 2009 and currently serves as Unit Commander of Compton Sherriff’s Station.
Captain Walker’s career with the Sheriff’s Department began in 1978 as a Law Enforcement Intern. She briefly left the Department and returned in 1980 as an Academy Candidate at Sybil Brand Institute for Women. After graduating from the Academy as a Deputy Sheriff in 1981, she held assignments at Lennox Station, Marina Del Rey Station, Technical Services Division, Court Services Division, the Substance Abuse and Narcotics Education Bureau, and Lynwood/Century Station. She was promoted to Sergeant in 1996 and worked at Sybil Brand Institute for Women and Lennox Station. In 2003, Captain Walker was promoted to Lieutenant and worked North County Correctional Facility, Malibu/Lost Hills Station, Santa Clarita Valley Station, Custody Training Unit, Operation Safe Streets Bureau and as Aide to the Assistant Sheriff’s Office.
Captain Walker holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from West Los Angeles College.
Captain Walker resides in Inglewood with her husband, Tony. She has two daughters: Whitney, 25, who recently completed graduate school and Da’Nelle, 16, who is attending high school. In her free time she enjoys walking, gardening, sewing and interior decorating.
