About Us

Founded in 1992, The Positive Results Corporation, also known as The PRC, was started by Los Angeles Police Officer, Tony Newsom. Working in the West Valley with the Jeopardy Program, Officer Newsom knew that youth in gangs, at risk, and on the streets were crying out for help. He started working with them, providing mentoring and literacy lesson, and was able change the mindset and lives of many.

In 1993, The PRC received a 501 (c) 3, and has since impacted the lives of over 5250 youth and families. In 2008, Kandee Lewis became the Executive Director, and a Certified Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness Advocator, specializing in Teen Dating Violence Prevention.

Mission Statement:

The Positive Results Corporation teaches leadership and character development skills in order to promote healthy, sustainable relationships, and prevent acts and exposure to violence and high risk behaviors.

Vision Statement:

We build “positive results“ communities to encourage youth and families to be proactive in creating a legacy of anti-violence and prevention approaches which, ultimately, empower them in places where they live, work, worship, and educate. The results are youth and families developing leadership and character development skills to make wise choices about their personal safety and safety of others, while building a culture of youth and families who embrace and promote non-violence.

Target Population
The PRC specializes in working with children, youth, Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) age 16 to 24 and adults. We service pregnant & parenting teens, foster care and homeless youth, LGBTQ youth, at risk and low income families, and the general public.

The Positive Results Corporation has been chosen to receive the Johnnie L. Cochran Award from the Los Angeles High School Alumni Association for our work in Youth Violence Prevention. We have also been instrumental in establishing Proclamations and Resolution making in the Cities of Inglewood, Los Angeles and Santa Monica, February Teen Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness Month, which replicates Senate Resolution 373, a National issue.

In 2011, we created and hosted Stop The Pain, Teen Summits (on Dating Violence and Bully Prevention), the only one of its kind in the country. Since that time we have seen an increase of 585% (165 youth in 2011 and 973 people, 600 youth in 2012) in year two (2012) and 171% additional increase in our 3rd year (over 1650 attendees in 2013). Stop the Pain conducts workshops on abuse, bullying, cyberbully, sex trafficking and violence prevention & awareness, healthy relationships, financial literacy, college preparedness and self esteem for youth, young adults, and adults. We also have a healthy clinic to screen for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes in youth.
